fresh, local & community focused •

Named after this building's original 1906 identity, union block bistro brings intentional dining to historic downtown Mount Vernon. Our owner's three decades of cafe experience in Seattle found this perfect home in Skagit Valley, where the pace allows for deeper connections—to our food, our community, and each other.

We believe food should nourish both body and soul. That's why we've created a non-homogenized space where every visit offers something genuine, something real. This isn't fast food or corporate dining—it's fuel for people who value authenticity and connection.

Open Thursday through Monday.

We're a safe space for all and can't wait to meet you.

Big flavor. Zero waste mindset.

Our comfort menu changes with what's available because we source directly from local producers in our region. This means fresher ingredients, stronger community ties, and less environmental impact. When you eat here, you're tasting the season, supporting your neighbors, and keeping money in our community.

Our hyper-local approach means our menu evolves—what you see today might be different next week, and that's exactly the point. We're connected to the rhythm of local farming and the creativity it inspires.

Menu items change based on local availability and supply.

local ❤️

we love local.
and creating connections.

It’s pretty simple really - all the good things, from close by, made by people whose names we know, with as little waste as possible.

Our menu changes seasonally, to take advantage of the best that Skagit Valley has to offer.

Working directly with other small, local businesses and producers means that we can’t just run to the store and grab more of whatever ingredient we’ve run out of in the middle of a Sunday brunch rush - so sometimes, the menu is smaller than others. We like to think about it like an opportunity for a food adventure. It’s the universe telling you to try something new.
